What are the basic beliefs of Islam?

Share:

The word 'Islam' means surrender and is derived from the Arabic root 'salam' which means peace. In Islamic terminology, the religion of surrendering to Allah, the only creator, and attaining peace is called Islam.

Belief in Allah alone as the Creator and Muhammad (pbuh) as the final Messenger (of the Creator) is the basic teaching of Islam. Those who follow this religion are called Muslims.
All that remains-

Scripture : The Qur'an alone is believed by the mulims to be the incorruptible word of God. Besides following the hadith for religious observance. Although the hadith is considered pure, it is not considered as pure and preserved as the Quran.

Origin: Muhammad (pbuh) started preaching Islam after receiving his prophethood i.e., at the age of 40 years. He started preaching this religion in 610 AD, so it can be said that this religion originated. But according to Muslims, it has been there since the beginning of creation.

Original sentence : 'La ilaha illallah' Bengali translation - There is no god but Allah. You understand that monotheism is the key word of this religion.

Who is the promoter of Islam?

Islam is not a religion introduced by the 40-year-old Muhammad (PBUH) in 610 AD, it is part of a continuum (Muslims believe this, others believe differently).
Starting from the first man of the world, Adam (A.S.) until now, numerous prophets have come to guide people on the right path . Allah is the originator of Islam. According to the belief of this religion-
  • Allah himself is the originator of Islam - the first man on earth was a follower of this religion
  • Adam (as) or Adam is the first prophet of this religion
  • Islam is monotheism where there is no one or nothing equal to Allah
  • Muhammad (pbuh) is the last prophet of this religion who came for the whole world, other prophets came in their time for their nations.
Allah has sent messengers to all the nations of the world. The last and final prophet is - Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). Muslims believe that Jesus (Jesus), Moses (Moses) and other prophets found peace in accepting one God as Creator.
So the essence of Islam is to believe in Allah alone as the creator.

Belief in Seven Things (Imane Mufassal)

Muslims believe in seven things unconditionally, on the basis of which they try to judge others by reason

  1. Allah : One and One. He has no image, image or reflection. Allah's attributes cannot be explained by humans.
  2. Angels : There are numerous angels who are engaged in various tasks under the command of Allah. They do not have the ability to do good or bad like humans, they only follow the instructions of Allah.
  3. Messengers  : Messengers of God chosen from among the people, who convey the message of God to the people. The books were revealed to them.
  4. Kitabs  : The message that came to the Prophets through the angel Gabriel, which is available in book form. A total of 104 books have been sent to us by the Creator, of which four are great. The last book Quran came to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
  5. Akhirat:  The life after death where people will be judged and rewarded or punished based on their good and bad deeds in this life
  6. Good and bad fate is determined by Allah:  Man cannot control his fate. People usually succeed in anything they try.
  7. On Judgment Day Resurrection: After the Resurrection, all people will be resurrected again. Doomsday is the Great Flood when the world will be destroyed.

Who is Allah?

God in different religions
Allah is an Arabic word. By this word Muslims refer to the Lord of the entire universe as the sole creator. However, Arab Christians who follow Christianity also use this term to mean the Trinity of Christianity .
By the three phrases Allah al-Ab, Allah al-Ibn and Allah al-Quds, they refer to the Holy Father, the Holy Son and the Holy Spirit. Read  - History, Origins and Beliefs of Christianity
Some groups of Baha'is, Jews, and Sikhs use this term to refer to the Creator. Pre-Islamic pagans used this term to add partiality to the concept of God. They considered Lat, Uzza and Manat as the three daughters of Allah .
Partisanism is prohibited in Islam through the Quran. Read Surah Ikhlas of Quran to know who Allah is in Islam. In this article we have tried to give a generalized idea

Translation of Surah Ikhlas:

Say, He is the One God. God is not waiting for anyone. He gave birth to no one and no one gave birth to him. There is no one else equal to him.

heavenly book

Asmani Kitab in Islam refers to those books which have come from Allah to man. These books usually came to the Prophets through an angel called Gabriel (A.S.). That is why these are divine books that were not written by humans.

Total number of books

Total Asmani Kitab 104. Among them, four are large texts and 100 sahifahs. Major books are-
book nameon which it descended
TorahMusa (pbuh)

Quran MajeedMuhammad (pbuh)

Although the Qur'an mentions the revelation of the Sahifa to Ibrahim (A.S.), the number is not mentioned. The Bible and the Gospel are not the same, but many call the Gospel the Gospel.
According to Mufassal in Iman it is the duty of every Muslim to believe in these books. You will get an idea about these seven things by reading our article on Islam. Torah refers to the Torah of the Jewish Tanakh and Jabur refers to the book revealed to David (pbuh).

Pillar of Islam

  1. Declaration of Faith (Kalima or Shahadah)
  2. Mandatory worship (prayer)
  3. Compulsory giving of poor people a small portion of the wealth of the rich (Zakat).
  4. Fasting during the month of Ramadan

Divisions/sects/sects among Muslims

The main source of Islam is the Qur'an. After that, these madhhabs were created based on the hadith, religion, interpretation of the Quran. They are actually different types. In English it is called School of thought. The four most popular schools among Sunnis are-

  • Hanafi
  • Shafi'i
  • maleki
  • Humbly

These four were famous Imams, Muslim scholars . They did not interact with each other. They have interpreted Islamic behavior based on different arguments from different places. There are many groups among the Shias, but the main foundations are the Qur'an, the Hadith, and the Ahl al-Bayyat (Prophet's Family).

In the case of Sunnis, the main basis is the Qur'an and the Sunnah. No one calls any sect of Muslims wrong. In this case, everyone attaches importance to obeying the Quran. As well as the explanation given by the Prophet. Differences of opinion do not remove anyone from Islam.

I will not write anything about this, I will show a picture. Hope that gives you a good idea-

One thing needs to be mentioned, ordinary Muslims do not belong to these madhhabs. He follows what he learns, regardless of the creed of the madhhab. Having these madhhabs is good from one point of view and bad from another point of view.
On the negative side, the political use of religion has brought many evils in people's lives over the ages. There is a history of many wars among those who have used their opinions to run the state. These (warlike) statesmen were not peaceful . But those in whose name the Madhhab was formed were never seen fighting like this. They concentrated on religion.
My request to the blind devotees of madhhabs and anti-madhhabs- stay focused on dharma, keep a peaceful discussion if you find the behavior of others wrong and wish to change ( accept the fact that you too can be wrong ).
On the plus side , the right to express opinions. By accepting the basic beliefs of Islam, various opinions can be expressed, these madhhabs are his signs. Different wise men have expressed different views and their followers have created these divisions to follow them. Many Islamic scholars do not give importance to these, but give importance to the things that must be observed in Islam.

Quotes about Islam

Muslim and non-Muslim thinkers have looked at this religion from their own perspective and commented on it differently. By reading people's comments, one can get an idea about a person's thoughts, knowledge, wisdom, emotions, behavior. You can enrich yourself. Let's have a look at some famous quotes-
The Dalai Lama said,
... since September 11th event, in many occasions I always come forth, with a defense of Islam. Islam like any other major tradition. I think the very praising Allah means love, infinite love, compassion, like that. I understand Islam, they usually carry rosary, all 99 beads, different name of Allah, all refer compassion, or these positive things.
George W. Bush said,
Islam brings hope and comfort to millions of people in my country, and to more than a billion people worldwide. Ramadan is also an occasion to remember that Islam gave birth to a rich civilization of learning that has benefited mankind.
Catholic Pope John Paul II said,
... the religiosity of Muslims deserves respect. It is impossible not to admire, for example, their fidelity to prayer. The image of believers in Allah who, without caring about time or place, fall to their knees and immerse themselves in prayer remains a model for all those who invoke the true God, in particular for those Christians who, having deserted their magnificent cathedrals, pray only a little or not at all.
Leo Tolstoy said,
The legislation of Quran will spread all over the world, because it agrees with the mind, logic and wisdom.

Answers to some more questions

Some more questions come to your mind, I am trying to answer those questions. Besides, you can add more questions in the comment box below-

How old is Islam?

I have talked about this before. According to those who practice religious history impartially, Muhammad (pbuh) is the founder of Islam. And this religion started after they were born. He was born in 570 AD and started preaching in 610 AD.
But the Muslim faith is not like that , the Muslim faith is continuity. Muhammad (pbuh) did not preach any new religion. Islam means peace by surrendering to God alone. This message was preached by the first man, Adam, from Adam to Jesus (and the great men of all the nations of the earth ). So, Islam has existed since the beginning of creation. We don't know for sure when that began.

What is the English of Islam?

The meaning of the word Islam in English is - Submission. In one sentence - Submitting will to God (Allah). The root of this word is Salam which means Peace. So both these things are acceptable. Islam is usually written in English. This one word can be used in all languages to express.

How old is the world according to Islam?

The correct answer is that Allah did not directly inform the Muslims. The age of the earth is mentioned or hinted at in other scriptures but not in the Qur'an. Hence, Muslims accept the scientific age of 4.5 billion years . If something else seems more logical in the future, it will also be accepted.
Some, however, try to estimate it to be 5,000 to 8,000 years using biblical calculations . However, this is only speculation, there is no reliable source. Many other such assumptions can be made.

Which country prohibits Islam?

There is a rumor that Islam is banned in Angola. This is actually not true. According to the constitution, the country is secular, and permission is required to build religious places of worship. If less than 100,000 people follow a religion, they are not recognized . As the number of Muslims is 90000, they did not get official recognition.

A mosque has been demolished in Angola, several have been closed, half a hundred or more Christian churches have been closed. The condition is that religious places of worship should be run in that country by applying to the government through legal process. No religion is forbidden there. So, there is no such country where Islam is banned.

Which is the Islamic greeting?

Muslims greet everyone, young and old, with ' Assalamu Alaikum '. It means - Peace be upon you.
